Hi Simpson's Fans! Do you need a Santa's Little Helper in your life too? This sweetie is a little chunkier and shorter than the Simpson's greyhound, but oh so sweet!
Nicknamed "Buster" at home, this gorgeous boy was owned by an older man in rural NSW who never taught him manners or trained him. Then he grew big and boisterous and became too much for him. So Santa’s Little Helper was surrendered to a rural NSW pound.
He was then saved by MPDRI who brought him down to Victoria.
Did you say you have other large dogs that are super friendly and love to play tug of war? Santa’s Little Helper could do that for hours with you or them! He simply loves dogs and is such a social butterfly!
Santa’s Little Helper has learnt to sit, and sleep in his crate and is toilet trained. Stay and shake are still a work in progress, but he’s a smart cookie, he’ll get there!
He does get scared when people yell which may have happened to him earlier in his life.
If you are interested in adopting him, you will need to be a confident, assertive, but kind family (kids over 15 please as he sometimes jumps up). He needs strong leaders who are kind but ensure that he knows his boundaries. MPDRI will only accept people who have had bully breed experience and trained their dogs.
Santa’s Little Helper would love obedience training and it would put his mind to good use. He’s quite athletic, so would love the agility courses.
He is cat-friendly to dog-savvy cats. He tries to play with the house cat and he just ignores him.
He does suffer a little from separation anxiety, he will whine for a few minutes, then put himself in his crate and curl up like a good boy.
Santa’s Little Helper’s ideal home would be a family with teenagers or adults who are all experienced with young bouncy staffies. They will be dedicated to continuing his training and include him in family adventures such as hiking, camping sports etc. He’d also prefer someone who is home more often than not. He is an affectionate Staffy after all.
If you had another large dog he could play with, that would be ideal.
Please note: Santa’s Little Helper will be desexed on 6th January.
