The gorgeous Charmander is on the lookout for his forever home. He is a one-year-old friendly and energetic Staffy X Red Heeler mix with a heart full of love a head to match and a tail that wags nonstop.
Charmander was found as a stray in NSW and was extremely underweight before he arrived at his foster home, however, he’s now much healthier and happier.
He’s such a happy-go-lucky guy who thrives on affection and playtime. His favourite activities include following his foster family wherever they go, romping around in the backyard, and cuddling up for some quality snuggle time on the couch or bed. Whether it’s a trip in the car, a walk or a quiet evening at home, he’s happy to be by your side.
Charmander is not just a pretty face—he has some tricks up his sleeve too! He knows basic commands like sit, shake, come and crate trained, but he’s always up for learning something new and eager to please, especially if you have treats. He’s also still a little food obsessed, so his foster family puts the food away where he can’t reach it, but he’s much better at being gentle when getting a treat and doesn’t take food off people without it being offered.
This boy loves kids but because of his size, ages 5 and up would be best so he doesn’t knock them over when he gets excited and wants to play.
He gets along well with other dogs and is learning how to play nicely, though he is still learning his new size and strength so can be a bit of a boof at times. He thinks cats are very interesting and just wants to play, so a slow introduction to a dog-savvy cat would be recommended if you have one.
Charmander would be happiest in a home where he gets plenty of exercise and attention. A yard to play in or access to daily walks would be ideal, but he’s adaptable and can fit into various living situations. He is good at jumping so you will need 6ft fences to prevent him from exploring if you go out.
